Christmas '24 - Reflecting on a Positive Year

Updated: Dec 31, 2024

As we wrap up another year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on all the progress we've made together at My Movement Medicine. The holiday season is a time to celebrate growth, renewal, and the joy of connecting with others—and what a year it’s been!

“It’s not about being the best. It’s about being better than you were yesterday.” — (A reminder that every small step counts!)

A Year of Progress and Growth

2024 has been an exciting year for My Movement Medicine, and I couldn’t have done it without the incredible support from each of you. From launching the new website, beginning the hybrid face-to-face and online sessions, and session recordings, we’ve had an eventful year full of dedication, learning, and health victories. I’ve loved seeing so many of you participating in the sessions with such commitment.

There’s no shortage of inspiring moments to reflect on, but I want to especially thank those of you who have made major strides this year in improving your fitness and overall health. Your dedication is what makes this journey so meaningful, and it’s truly a pleasure to be part of your progress.

“The only bad workout is the one that didn’t happen.” — Unknown (So even if you can’t do a full hour, 10 minutes is still progress!)

A Heartfelt Thank You

Whether you’ve been attending regular sessions, participating in our online workouts, or simply following along with my blog and social media posts, your continued trust in My Movement Medicine means the world. I am grateful for every session, every piece of feedback, and every positive change that we’ve made together this year.

“Your heart doesn’t know the difference between a walk around the block and running a marathon. It just wants to know that you’re taking care of it.” — Dr. Michael Roizen (Perfect for those who are easing back into exercise—just start somewhere!)

Looking Ahead to 2025: What’s Next?

I’m excited to share that 2025 is already shaping up to be an even better year. I’ll be introducing new online programs designed to support your heart health goals from the comfort of your home, alongside building a library of useful cardiac focussed health resources, and expanding the service further.

But most importantly, I’m looking forward to continuing our journey together—helping each of you stay healthy, active, and motivated throughout the year. So as we approach the new year, let’s set our sights on bigger goals, both for our hearts and our overall well-being.

“The New Year is the time to make new promises to yourself and celebrate the amazing progress you’ve already made!”

The New Year: Your 7-Day Health Challenge

To kickstart the new year with some positive momentum, I’m challenging you to take on a 7-day heart health challenge. Here’s how it works:

Day 1: Walk It Out

Start the year with a 10-minute brisk walk. It doesn’t have to be fast, just consistent. Get that heart pumping!

Day 2: Stretch and Strengthen

Try five minutes of stretching (think basic yoga or light mobility exercises). Add in squats and lunges for a little strength work!

Day 3: Eat to Feel Your Best

Focus on including more heart-healthy foods today—try a new vegetable or incorporate some omega-3-rich foods like salmon or walnuts into your meals.

Day 4: Take a Breather

Practice 5 minutes of deep breathing exercises. This helps reduce stress and improve circulation. (Your heart will thank you!)

Day 5: Move with Intention

Join a 30-minute exercise session or go for a brisk walk outside. Remember, it’s all about consistency, not intensity.

Day 6: Focus on Rest

Take time today to rest—sleep is vital for heart health. Aim for 7-8 hours tonight to recharge your body for tomorrow.

Day 7: Reflect and Celebrate

Write down three things you’ve done this week to improve your health. Celebrate your wins, no matter how big or small! You’ve earned it!

“Exercise is the most potent and underutilized antidepressant and the most potent and underutilized anti-anxiety medication.” — Dr. Bill Phillips (For those days when motivation is a bit low—remember, exercise has mental benefits too!)

A Personal Note from Me to You

As we enter the holiday season, I want to remind you all of the importance of slowing down and focusing on your well-being. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle, but remember—your health should always be your top priority.

I’m so grateful for all of you who’ve made My Movement Medicine part of your journey, and I can’t wait to see what we achieve in 2025. Whether you’re new to the sessions or have been with me for a while, together we’re making lasting, positive changes.

Wishing you all a peaceful holiday season, filled with warmth, joy, and of course—heart health!

Here’s to a Happy New Year filled with progress, and joy!

Much love,

Santa & Rudolph x
