I recently watched another health documentary which I found to be very informative called Forks Over Knives. If you get a chance, instead of chucking on your normal television programme, put this on and it may just change your outlook on health.

The documentary focusses on the benefits of a plant based diet, especially on various health conditions. The information provided in the documentary is backed up with scientific evidence which is detailed as you progress through the documentary.
I would thoroughly recommend the documentary which lasts around 1 hour and 35 minutes.

The take home messages from the documentary:
- Plant based diets vastly improved important health factors such as cholesterol levels, blood pressure, pulse rate and cardiovascular inflammation levels, even after just 3 weeks of practice.
- Plant based diets also have beneficial effects on various other illnesses and diseases such as cancer, diabetes, arthritis, and various other psychological conditions.
- Cardiovascular diseases are not just prevented with a plant based diet, the inflammation and disease can in fact be reversed through cutting out meat & dairy products.
- A fact that hit me pretty hard was that annually, cattle eat enough grain to sustain 8.2 billion people - more than enough to feed the full population of earth. While some people are still starving, the food is used for sustaining massive cattle farms
- The people involved in the film, all have
- The Eatwell Plate is a useful guide, but can still lead to unhealthy nutrition
Give it a watch, see what you think and can take away from it.
As ever, if you're going to give plant-based a go, as its a drastic change, its important to do some research beforehand to make sure you will continue to get a full range of the healthy nutrients your body needs to function. Also, its worth running ideas by your GP first too to make sure its appropriate for your individual case!
As with anything, don't judge anything too early, trial it and see and you may just find that you could gain massive benefits, even from something as simple as eating vegetables!
